Victory in Dallas/Fever in Pittsburgh

I had a great time at the game as the Cowboys massacred the Bucs 38-10. After the game, I decided to hang out at the corral, and who should show up but Jerry Jones himself. I had seen Jerry from a distance before, and I even got to walk around his personal airplane a few years back while he was at his mother-in-law's funeral, but I never got to meet him. Since he was standing right there, I figured "What the hell", so I approached him and had him sign my Cowboys jacket. It was a pretty cool way to end the evening.

The next morning, I missed my flight to Pittsburgh and had to get on stand by for the next flight. Luckily, there were enough seats; although, someone weighing in excess of 300 lbs. was next to me. Shamu inspired me to write another blog which you can read at http://awwh.blogspot.com within a day or so.

When I arrived in Pittsburgh, I was elated to see my daughter and her mother, but I could tell that bad things were about to happen. I ended up bed ridden from the time I arrived Friday until Sunday night with a sore throat and high fever. When I get a fever, my body quits functioning. It basically messed up the whole trip; however, I was happy to see my daughter, and she didn't seem to mind hanging around the hotel room watching the Cartoon Network or swimming in the hotel's indoor pool. Monday, I felt much better, and we were able to have lunch in Pittsburgh, ride up the Duquesne incline, walk around Mt. Washington and even have a little ice cream, so the entire trip was not a loss. Overall, I give the trip a C-.

My Thanksgiving Celebration

I'm heading out tomorrow morning to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on my beloved Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium. This is my third game at Texas Stadium, and the Cowboys are 1-1 in games that I have attended. The first was in 1998 when Emmitt Smith broke the all-time record for rushing TD's in a career against the Washington Redskins, and I was also at the Thanksgiving game last year when Dallas lost to Denver in OT.

Then, I'm off to see my five year old daughter in PA. Her mother and I are going to take her to a Japanese restaurant for the first time. Looking forward to the three of us getting to spend some time together.

Def Leppard Touring with KISS in 2007?

Blabbermouth, the self-proclaimed "CNN of heavy metal and hard rock news, reviews and music" posted the following article on November 18, rehashing the same rumor that has been going around for years now:

"Richmond Coliseum general manager Dolly Vogt told Melissa Ruggieri at the Richmond Times-Dispatch that a KISS/DEF LEPPARD tour is being explored for early 2007. There has been no official word as to whether this trek will see the light of day."

FROM The Official Def Leppard Website:

No, that's defintitely not true.

However.....

We DID have MiniKISS perform at our end-of-tour party last Thursday, but that's about as far as it goes!!

Jack Palance 1919-2006

I'm a few days late with this post, but I just heard about it today. Jack Palance died on November 10, 2006. He was 87 years old, and he passed away in his California home of natural causes.

I always liked Jack Palance, because he usually played a bad guy. I also thought he was a great host in Ripley's Believe it or Not! when I was a kid. And, who will ever forget him as "Curly" in City Slickers?

1000 Hits Today

Woo Hoo! My counter rolled over for having 1,000 unique visitors since I started posting back in August. Very cool. I expected to be like the guy on the Sonic commercial whose mother is his sole blog reader, but she is going to tell her neighbor, so he may soon have two readers of his blog. I suppose there are a few other weird people like me out there that still like KISS and the occassional story like "Let Me See that Thong."

I'm going to celebrate by finishing up the episode of CSI that I recorded last night.

Jenna Fisher on David Letterman

This is a clip of the very cute Jenna Fisher who plays the receptionist, Pam, on The Office explaining how her life is a little different since being on the hit show.

I'd just like Jenna to know that I'd walk 500 miles to find Tapioca pudding for her.

Razorbacks Crack the Top 5

When the unranked Arkansas Razorbacks beat #2 Auburn a few weeks ago, I was happy for the team, but didn't expect that they would start playing great every week. As it turns out, the Razorback football team has been playing tremendously, and stomped the crap out of #13 Tennessee on Saturday by a score of 31-14. The #11 Razorbacks are now the #5 team in the nation. I'm not sure how long it has been since Arkansas has been ranked that high, but I think it's been a very, very long time. There isn't too much excitement in Arkansas typically, so when one of the college sports teams gets ranked in the top 10 of the nation, it's a pretty big deal. Good job guys.

Yes, Another KISS Post

I realize I have posted a lot of KISS stuff lately, but the release of the KISSOLOGY DVD Vol. 1 has been anticipated by fans for several years. Well, it debuted at No. 1 in the DVD sales charts. Way to go guys.

KISS' "Kissology: Volume One 1974-1977" DVD box set sold a whopping 52,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on Billboard's Music Video chart.

"Kissology: Volume One 1974-1977" is a monumental six-hour, two-DVD box set featuring vintage material going all the way back to the deep early roots of the band's classic lineup - Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss - captured and re-mastered on two state-of-the-art DVDs featuring more than 70 live performances and four full concerts bundled along with unreleased tracks and never-before-seen footage. The mind-boggling first volume of a definitive three part collection (volumes two and three are being readied for release in 2007) presented by VH1 Classic, "Kissology: Volume One 1974-1977" is a showcase of pristine digitally-restored video coupled with a 5.1 audio mix to provide both stunning visual quality and powerhouse finely-detailed sound designed to meet the approval of the most demanding KISSmaniac.

"Kissology: Volume One 1974-1977" goes all the way back one of the band's earliest live performances in the New York pre-punk glam rock bar scene of the early 1970s before tracing the rocket-paced transformation of KISS into international rock gods who filled the world's largest arenas as the undisputed hottest band in the land by 1977.

Reposting The Office - The Dundies

Since the good people at YouTube decided to yank my original post of this clip, I decided to post it again. Enjoy!

I have attached a clip from one of my favorite episodes from the first episode of the second season. In this clip, the office manager is handing out the annual "Dundies. " The Dundies are an award ceremony that Steve Carell's character has conjured up, and a ceremony is held annually at the local Chili's. Each member of the office gets an award for things like "Tight Ass" for not only having a tense personality, but also having nice buns. Another person got the "Don't Follow Him into the Bathroom" Dundie Award. This particular clip is when an employee named Phyllis receives the "Busiest Beaver" award.

Nigella on The Food Network

The Food Network has decided to air another program featuring an attractive woman. All I can say is, if the pattern works, keep using it. The new show is named Nigella Feasts, and it airs Sundays at 12 PM Central. I'll have to record it for a few weeks since it intereferes with football. I haven't seen the program yet, and I have no clue as to whether or not she can really cook, but does it matter? I suppose The Food Network has to throw in cute women like Giada to offset the crap like The Barefoot Contessa (shudder). As you can tell from her nicely fitting shirt, I think Nigella (Lawson is her last name) is an English chippy. Looking forward to watching my first episode and I'll leave a full review here on the blog. You can catch Nigella next on November 5th.
